DELF: International Certification for French Language Proficiency
The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) is an international language exam awarded by the French Ministry of Education. It is designed to assess and enhance the French language proficiency of non-native speakers.
The DELF diploma is recognized globally and holds lifelong validity, making it a valuable certification that students can utilize at any stage of their lives.
Skill-Based Assessment
The DELF exam evaluates a candidate’s abilities in four fundamental areas, with a focus on both linguistic and cultural comprehension:
- Reading Skills
- Listening and Comprehension Skills
- Writing Skills
- Speaking Skills
The DELF is structured into four levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2.
- DELF A1 and A2 Levels: These are the introductory levels of French proficiency, focusing on basic everyday communication. Students at this stage learn to use simple phrases and frequently used vocabulary, enabling them to communicate briefly and clearly.
- DELF B1 and B2 Levels: These levels demonstrate effective use of French in both spoken and written contexts. Students who reach these levels can communicate fluently and understand most of the language used in television programs, radio broadcasts, or professional and academic environments.
