DELF / DALF

The DELF diploma is an international language certification awarded by the French Ministry of Education to assess and recognize the French language proficiency of non-native speakers.

At Kilittaşı & Keystone, children begin learning English in a “natural environment” from the age of 3, guided by native English-speaking teachers. Starting at age 4, they are introduced to French as a second language. French continues as the primary foreign language through Grade 5. By the time students reach Grade 5, they are bilingual in English and Turkish and have been developing their French language skills since age 4.

To help students achieve conversational proficiency in French, Grade 5 includes an intensified focus on French language learning. At the end of the academic year, students demonstrate their progress in speaking French by taking the DELF/DALF examinations, earning a recognized certification to celebrate their achievement.

The DELF exam is internationally recognized, and students who earn this diploma can utilize it at various stages throughout their lives.

The DELF exam is skill-based, assessing proficiency in reading and comprehension, listening and comprehension, writing, and speaking. It consists of four levels:

  • Reading Skills
  • Listening and Comprehension Skills
  • Writing Skills
  • Speaking Skills

The DELF exam is structured across four levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2.

DELF A1 and A2 Levels: These levels represent the foundational stage of learning French. At this stage, learners can engage in simple, everyday conversations using basic structures and commonly used vocabulary. Individuals who pass these levels can communicate briefly and clearly.

DELF B1 and B2 Levels: These levels signify proficiency in effectively using French in both spoken and written forms. Learners who achieve these levels can communicate comfortably and with ease. They can understand much of the language used in television or radio programs as well as in professional or academic settings.

At Kilittaşı and Keystone Schools, our students successfully achieve A1, A2, and B1 level certifications.

Additionally, our schools are among the limited number of official DELF exam centers.
